CONTINUING EDUCATION AEROSPACE MANUFACTURING & REPAIR

It’s not too late to train in the emerging Aerospace industry by enrolling in Lenoir Community College’s Continuing Education Aerospace Manufacturing Readiness Program. The next 13-week training program is tentatively scheduled to start mid-March 2013 at the Spirit Composite Center of Excellence Training Center in Kinston. Enrollment is limited so don’t delay in registering. Classes will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for 13 weeks.  These classes are designed to enhance employment with aerospace companies such as Spirit Aerosystems, FRC East at the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, AAR and Mountain Air Cargo. Students will attend a program that will position the graduates for aerospace jobs in composites, assembly and fabrication. The students will be taught Composite Fabrication Methods, Composite Trim and Drill Procedures, Assembly Processes and Operations, Safety, Blueprint Reading, Math and Measuring.  Potential students should have the North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate or be willing to complete it before the end of the class.  Registration fee for this course is $192.00. 

 
CONTINUING EDUCATION ALUMINUM WELDING
The Continuing Education Aerospace Manufacturing Alumninum Welding program prepares individuals with basic welding skills necessary for student employment in the welding industry. The course includes the following topics: preparing for a welding occupation, understanding and use of the GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding processes. Upon completion the student will understand safety in a welding workshop, will be able to apply quality through established governing codes and standards and apply welding techniques to obtain desired outcome using alumimun as the preferred metal. Additionally, the student will understand, demonstrate knowledge and competency in their theoretical nature and practical applications pertaining to TIG & MIG welding using "short circuit mode and spray arc modes of metal transfer". Those completing the program successfully will be ready for entry level welding employment with our local Aerospace Manufacturer.
